Help Prevent the Spread of Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) by Navigating Responsibly
Aquatic invasive species are one of the greatest long-term threats to the health of the Spread Eagle Chain of Lakes. Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) is an invasive aquatic plant that can spread rapidly, disrupt native ecosystems, interfere with recreation, and impact water quality if left unmanaged.
The maps below identify known areas where EWM has been located within the Spread Eagle Chain. We encourage all boaters, anglers, and lake users to do their best to avoid these areas whenever possible. Minimizing disturbance in EWM beds helps reduce fragmentation, which is one of the primary ways the plant spreads to new locations.
SECOLA continues to work with local partners, lake management professionals, and community members to monitor and manage EWM while protecting the long-term health and enjoyment of our lakes. We appreciate everyone doing their part to help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.
